Homeless Veterans Benefit From Job Training Grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Workplace, Inc, in Bridgeport, will receive a $296,000 Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant to provide homeless veterans in Fairfield County with job training to help them succeed in civilian careers.

This is one of 103 grants, totaling nearly $30 million, to assist approximately 19,000 veterans across the country that are being awarded under the US Department of Labor’s HVRP and Veteran’s Workforce Investment Program.

Funds are being awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies, and nonprofit organizations, including faith-based and community organizations.

Homeless veterans may receive occupational, classroom, and on-the-job training, as well as job search and placement assistance, including follow-up services.

More information on the Department of Labor’s unemployment and reemployment programs for veterans can be found at www.dol.gov/vets.
