Newtown: Where People Get Involved
Newtown: Where People Get Involved
To the Editor:
One of our residents and one of our civil servants have shown that it is, indeed, âNicer In Newtown.â I wish to acknowledge and to applaud the individual who came forward as a witness to the damage caused by a driver backing into my vehicle while it was parked at Sandy Hook School, and I was working as a substitute teacher. The incident caused appreciable damage to my vehicle. Thanks to both this eyewitness and to the due diligence of the investigating officer, Officer Leonard Penna of the Newtown Police Department, the person responsible for the damage has been identified and will be held accountable.
Officer Penna kept his eyes open around town for a vehicle matching the description supplied by the witness and found the vehicle in a local parking lot days after the accident. Officer Penna handled the incident professionally, honestly, and provided the personal touch to both myself and to the other party. I appreciate all of his efforts in securing a resolution to this issue. Thanks to both the decision of the witness to get involved and the professional efforts of Officer Penna, there will be appropriate resolution to this matter. It is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Richard English
