St Rose Women Share Supper, Elect Officers

The St Rose Women’s Club recently enjoyed an evening of fellowship along with a delicious meal at Armando’s Restaurant.

In addition to sharing dinner and fellowship, the club acknowledged the efforts by its board and members at large for making the past year a successful one. Many thanks were expressed to the 2007-08 officers, Peggy Baiad, president; Judie Shivy, vice president; Cathy Hickey-Williams, secretary; and Joan  Gilbertie, treasurer. Under their guidance the board provided a year filled with fun, spiritual, and educational monthly meetings.

A successful fundraiser, Family Bingo Night, debuted. Its success enabled the club to make donations to Newtown’s Adopt-A-Family program, St Catherine’s Academy in Bridgeport and to Monsignor Robert Weiss for the St Rose Building Fund. Additionally, Terry Tortora was presented with this year’s special Woman of the Year Award for her involvement and enthusiasm.

Finally, the board for 2008-09 were sworn in. The new officers are as follows: Cathy Hickey-Williams, president; Joan Gilbertie, vice president; Stephania Naiman, secretary; and Jill Leary, treasurer. Msgr Weiss, the pastor of St Rose of Lima, serves as the club’s spiritual advisor.
