Auditions In Sherman For ‘Six Degrees Of Separation’

SHERMAN – Audition dates have been set for John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation, which will be the final production of Sherman Players’ 2000 season.

Co-directors Viv Berger and Carol Haines will audition actors on Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9, from 2 to 6 pm, and Tuesday, July 11, from 7 to 9 pm, at Sherman Playhouse, Routes 37 and 39 (behind Sherman Firehouse.)

The script requires a cast of 13 men ages 18 to 65, including an African-American, and four women ages 18 to 65. The actors will be asked to read from the play script, with timing and pace an important factor in casting.

The play will run five weekends, Friday and Saturday nights, October 6 through November 4, with a Sunday matinee during the run of the play. Rehearsals will begin August 28.

The play’s title refers to a statistical theory that any two people in the world can be connected through only six other people. Six Degrees of Separation follows the trail of a young con man who insinuates himself the lives of a wealthy New York couple. Captivated by his intelligence and fascinating conversation, the couple invites him to stay with them, a decision they later come to regret.

For more information about the auditions, call the Sherman Playhouse, 860/354-3622, or the directors at 860/210-9693.
