A Sad Day

To the Editor:

The last day of school and the beginning of summer are usually uplifting events, but this year there was great sadness as it also marked the last days of our owner-operators buses on our roads.

I found myself heartbroken whenever I saw a bus en route to and from the schools. Out of great pride and deep appreciation I started waving and honking at every bus I passed. I also took a moment to remember every driver who drove me and/or our children.

Thank you to each and every one of the owner-operators. You are very special people and have helped make Newtown even better. You will be missed. But maybe with the money that will supposedly be saved from firing you, Dr Robinson will erect a statue recognizing your outstanding years of safety and service.
