John E.

Wrabel III

John E. Wrabel III, 92, died peacefully in the Fairfield home that he built more than 60 years ago and in which he raised his family with his beloved wife, the late Dorothe Wrabel.

He will be missed by his sisters, Lillian Morris of Newtown and Marie Peck of Fairfield; grateful children, John “Jack” Wrabel IV of Fairfield, Mary-Lynn Wrabel of Washington, D.C., and Kathleen Kennedy of Stratford; two cherished grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Lillian Girard Wrabel, his brother Charles Wrabel, and his sister Madeline Wrabel.

Mr Wrabel graduated from Officers Candidate School and served overseas during World War II. Active in Connecticut politics, he was a recipient of the John M. Bailey Award for Distinguished Political Service in 1989, and the first John J. Sullivan Award in 1997.

After retiring from D’Addario Industries, he kept busy with his family and friends. Mr Wrabel will always be remembered for his wit, sense of humor, determination, loyalty, and generosity.

His family appreciates the many friends who took their time to visit and share memories, and to the Veterans Hospital staff in West Haven and the nurses from Vitas Hospice.

Funeral services took place July 2. Interment with military honors was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, Fairfield, assisted the family.
