Lions Honor NHS Students

The Newtown Lions Club recently gave out its Trull Leo of the Year Award and the William A. Honan Award to three outstanding students at Newtown High School.

The Trull Leo of the Year Award recognizes a Leo Club member who has been selected by the club’s advisor as the most outstanding Leo of the Year. It recognizes the qualities of leadership, participation in club activities, enthusiasm, compassion for others, and service-mindedness.

This year’s winner is Linda He, who is co-president of the Leo Club. She has been an active and positive leader who has assisted in organizing and attending most of the Leo community service projects.

The William A. Honan Awards are give to two Newtown High School junior class students. They are selected by the faculty as the best all-around students who exhibit citizenship, social awareness, and academic achievement.

This year’s winners were Rachel DiVanno and Stephen Conway, who were chosen for their commitment to the school and community and as positive school leaders and role models.
