Motorcycle DUI

Police report that while on patrol at about 10:24 pm on July 4, they spotted a motorcyclist swerving while traveling eastward on Wasserman Way, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they charged motorcyclist John Chapdelaine, 54, of 33 Meadowbrook Road with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Police said they held Chapdelaine on $100 bail for a July 5 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Evading Responsibility

Police report a one-vehicle accident at about 11 am on June 29 on Great Ring Road, near its intersection with Walker Hill Road, in which the unknown driver caused property damage and then drove away from the scene.

Police said that the vehicle, which was most likely a Ford F-350 truck of the 1999 to 2004 model years, was traveling southward on Great Ring Road and then struck some metal guardrailing along the right side of the road.

The smashed guardrailing squeezed a utility pole, causing the pole to crack, police said. The driver then struck a curbside residential mailbox and then drove away from the scene, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Warrants

Police report that William Lee, 40, of Monroe was scheduled to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on three counts of sixth-degree larceny on July 5.

Police said they had been holding Lee on $25,000 bail following his arrest this week on warrants in connection with merchandise thefts that had occurred earlier this year.

Volkswagen Accident

Police said that motorist Laurel Speed, 18, of 3 Silver City Road was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Passat station wagon northward near 158 Taunton Hill Road at about 8:45 am on July 4, when the vehicle veered off the right road shoulder and then came to rest between a utility pole and a trench.

Speed was not injured. Police said they verbally warned Speed for a travel lane violation.

Hanover Road

Police report an incident that occurred about 10:21 pm on July 4 on Hanover Road, near its intersection with Echo Valley Road.

Police said that a 32-year-old local male pedestrian, whom they did not identify, told them that he was struck by an unspecified motor vehicle which then left the scene.

Police said that the man was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible injuries. Police said they are investigating the incident.
