Peter Edward Wlasuk

Peter Edward Wlasuk, 85, died peacefully, June 29, at home in Texas, with his daughter Patty and granddaughter Michelle at his side. He was born May 17, 1927, in Port Chester, N.Y., to Anna Fedorcek and Frank Wlasuk.

He attended school in Greenwich, and served in the United States Army overseas in Germany in 1945.

He married Mary Teresa Lardner on November 17, 1951. They had their six children in Port Chester, before moving to Newtown in 1967.

Mr Wlasuk worked for Sorensen in Norwalk for nearly 20 years. He and his wife also worked as caretakers on estates in Greenwich for more than 20 years, before retiring to Southbury.

The most important part of his life was his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, taking them on many weekend outings when they were young, and coaching Little League baseball for his sons’ teams in Newtown in the 1970s. Mr Wlasuk loved sports, especially golf, and was a scratch golfer for most of his life. He caddied at Blind Brook Country Club for more than 65 years.

Mrs Wlasuk preceded him in death, after nearly 60 years of marriage, in 2011. His six children and their spouses Peter and Antoinette Wlasuk of Newtown, Teresa and Charles Kuhn, Patricia and John Commander, Michael and Aileen Wlasuk, Kathleen Wlasuk, Ann and David Cain; his brothers Alexander, Nickolas, and John; his sister Mary; 12 grandchildren; in-laws Patricia Rosa, and Thomas and Pat Lardner; and many nieces and nephews survive Mr Wlasuk.

His memorial service will take place Friday, July 13, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. The burial ceremony for both Mr and Mrs Wlasuk will follow immediately afterward at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill CT 06067.
