Dexter, Sr

Richard J. Dexter, Sr, 77, of Newtown, died peacefully June 29, at his home. He was the husband of Nancy (Stearns) Dexter. Mr Dexter was born in Manhattan, January 18, 1935, a son of the late Mary Smith.

After serving in the Air Force National Guard for 40 years, he retired as a chief master sergeant.

He retired after 38 years with the Robert Fulton Co., where he was employed as an aircraft mechanic, among various other assignments. He also retired from Benchmark in Brookfield, as a driver.

In addition to his wife of 22 years, Mr Dexter is survived by two sons, Richard J. Dexter, Jr, and his wife Kristin, of Summerfield, N.C., and Frank Dexter of Jamestown, N.C.; a stepson, Mark Rockwell of Bethel; and four grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the VNA of Danbury and the staff of Hospice.

There will be no calling hours. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is assisting the family.
