Thefts From Vehicles

Police report they are investigating thefts of items from unlocked motor vehicles that occurred during the early morning hours on June 29 on Elizabeth Street and Meadow Road.

Only vehicles that were unlocked were entered, police said. The person who stole the unspecified items opened the unlocked vehicles and simply took the valuables, police said.

Police received reports on thefts at about 9 am on June 29.

Police ask anyone with information on the incidents to contact them at the police station.

Package Store Burglary

At about 1:33 am on July 2, police received a burglar alarm from Rooster Wines & Liquors at 113 South Main Street (Route 25).

Police said that after arriving at the store, they determined that someone had broken into the building and had stolen unspecified items from within.

Police ask anyone with information on the burglary/larceny to contact them.

Minivan Vs Deer

Motorist Lucina Buonocore, 50, of 5 Kaechele Drive was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna minivan eastward on Botsford Hill Road at about 9 pm on June 23, when the vehicle collided with a deer, police said. Neither Buonocore nor any of the vehicle’s three passengers were injured, police said. Police took no enforcement.

 

Evading

Police report that at about 12:14 am on June 30, a local man, who was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, was making a left turn out of a driveway on New Lebbon Road, near its intersection with Aspen Lane, in order to head southward on New Lebbon Road.

At that time, an unknown person was driving a sedan northward on New Lebbon Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. The sedan then left the scene of the crash. The Chevrolet driver was not injured.

Police described the fleeing vehicle as a small, dark-colored sedan with Connecticut marker plates that was being driven by a young white male. Police said that the sedan would have damage to its left front end, including a missing headlamp.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the fleeing driver’s identity to contact them.

Interstate Accident

State police report that motorist Kathryn Marcus, 28, of New York City, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra eastward on Interstate 84, about one mile east of Exit 11, at about 11:33 pm on June 28, when an unknown tractor-trailer truck was passing the Hyundai.

Marcus swerved to avoid a collision with the truck, but the Hyundai went across the eastbound lanes and struck some guardcabling, state police said. Marcus was not injured.

Sandy Hook Incident

Police report that they charged Shaun Piccirillo, 25, of 18 Sunnyview Terrace with disorderly conduct late on the night of July 1, following a dispute that occurred at his residence between Piccirillo and another person.

Police said their investigation determined that Piccirillo was involved in a verbal altercation.

Following processing, police released Piccirillo on $100 bail for a July 17 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Intersection Collision

A sedan and a pickup truck collided at the intersection of Edmond Road and Church Hill Road about 7:08 am on June 28, according to a police report.

Police said motorist Neil Olmstead, 35, of New Milford, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy sedan, was southbound on Edmond Road and then stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Church Hill Road.

At that time, motorist Scott Mas, 52, of 14 Osborn Hill Road was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westward on Church Hill Road, police report.

The Chevrolet was following a westbound box truck, which made a right turn onto Edmond Road, police said.

As the box truck was making that right turn, the Chevrolet was passing the box truck on the left and the Subaru was pulling out from Edmond Road onto Church Hill, resulting in the Subaru and the Chevrolet colliding, police said.

There were no injuries. Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident to control an automotive fluid spill. Police said they warned Olmstead for failure to grant the right of way.

Motorcycle DUI

Police report that while on patrol at about 10:24 pm on July 4, they spotted a motorcyclist swerving while traveling eastward on Wasserman Way, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they charged motorcyclist John Chapdelaine, 54, of 33 Meadowbrook Road with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Police said they held Chapdelaine on $100 bail for a July 5 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Evading Responsibility

Police report a one-vehicle accident at about 11 am on June 29 on Great Ring Road, near its intersection with Walker Hill Road, in which the unknown driver caused property damage and then drove away from the scene.

Police said that the vehicle, which was most likely a Ford F-350 truck of the 1999 to 2004 model years, was traveling southward on Great Ring Road and then struck some metal guardrailing along the right side of the road.

The smashed guardrailing squeezed a utility pole, causing the pole to crack, police said. The driver then struck a curbside residential mailbox and then drove away from the scene, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Warrants

Police report that William Lee, 40, of Monroe was scheduled to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on three counts of sixth-degree larceny on July 5.

Police said they had been holding Lee on $25,000 bail following his arrest this week on warrants in connection with merchandise thefts that had occurred earlier this year.

Volkswagen Accident

Police said that motorist Laurel Speed, 18, of 3 Silver City Road was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Passat station wagon northward near 158 Taunton Hill Road at about 8:45 am on July 4, when the vehicle veered off the right road shoulder and then came to rest between a utility pole and a trench.

Speed was not injured. Police said they verbally warned Speed for a travel lane violation.

Hanover Road

Police report an incident that occurred about 10:21 pm on July 4 on Hanover Road, near its intersection with Echo Valley Road.

Police said that a 32-year-old local male pedestrian, whom they did not identify, told them that he was struck by an unspecified motor vehicle which then left the scene.

Police said that the man was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible injuries. Police said they are investigating the incident.
