Abortion Is Not A Health Issue

To the Editor:

I am thanking God for the decision by the Supreme Court for the reversal of Roe v Wade! The ruling had nothing to do with “women’s health,” but everything to do with murdering babies.

It is now time to put energies into true women’s health issues regarding pregnancy. All pregnant women should be able to receive excellent pre-natal and post-natal care, which must include physical, emotional and mental health services. If the woman is unmarried and becomes pregnant her needs may be very great and services must be available to her.

If the woman does not want her child she should be provided access to excellent, legitimate adoption services. Federal and State monies should go to fund these services rather than to the killing of babies.

Someone wrote in the Letter Hive last week regarding the father’s obligation to help the mother and child financially until the child is 18. That’s an interesting thought, but I doubt that will ever happen. There are many bridges to cross before paternal responsibilities are confronted.

For now, let’s put effort into maternal and infant care and stop kidding ourselves that abortion is a women’s health issue.

As I said earlier, abortion is the murder of babies.

Let’s help our moms and babies.

If we, in Newtown, really Choose Love, then let’s help these moms and push Connecticut into a great state and not one that supports infanticide!
