A Damp, But Spirited Carnival
A Damp, But Spirited Carnival
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Saint Rose of Lima Parish Community, I would like to thank everyone who supported our annual carnival in any way. While the weather dampened the earth, it certainly did not dampen the spirit of those involved with the carnival this year. We are grateful to God for the success we achieved.
I especially want to thank our parishioners who volunteered hours of their time to work at the carnival. Organizing and coordinating an event of this magnitude does not happen in a day by only a few people. It takes hours of planning and working to make a successful undertaking like this a happy and safe experience for all involved. I am truly blessed in the dedication of our parish community. The donations, service and participation by so many of our parish family is what makes a difference in the lives of us all.
I wish to thank the greater community as well, especially our booth sponsors and those who donated so much that contributed to our success: Andreaâs Bake Shop, My Place Restaurant, The Pizza Palace, Coachâs Deli, Dunkinâ Donuts, David Grant Caterers of Shelton, Smeraglinoâs Caterers of Bridgeport, The Inn at Newtown, Fireside Inn, Mona Lisa Restaurant, and Inn at Newtown.
I also want to thank the members of the Newtown Police Department and Newtown Hook and Ladder for their presence throughout the carnival. We all feel a bit more safe to see these professionals on hand.
Finally, I want to commend the number of young people who attended and volunteered. Each one of you handled yourself very well and were an example to all of us who sometimes forget just how good you are! It was a delight for me to see so many teens having a good time just being with one another, enjoying the rides and playing the games. Thanks for your participation!
Again, my thanks to all of you! See you in 2006 for another great carnival!
Sincerely,
Rev Robert Weiss
