BRIDGEWATER - Fair fever has begun among local residents of Bridgewater, as they generate buzz for the 65th Bridgewater Country Fair, to be conducted at Bridgewater Fair Grounds, 100 Main Street South, August 19-21.bridgewaterfair.com or facebook.com/bridgewatercountryfair.bridgewatercountryfair@gmail.com or 860-354-4730.

This year, there are more events, more music, more attractions, more shopping, new additions, new foods, and many surprises.

The fair is unique in its charm and warmth of a small town, yet hosts more than 30,000 people annually. Hosted by Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department, one of the only self-funded fire departments in the state, the fair not only holds traditions, excitement, and entertainment, but also is the main source of revenue for the fire and EMS services for the town and surrounding mutual aid support calls.

This year, while keeping the traditions alive, exciting attractions, shopping, interactive events, popular music, and more have been added to make it even more enjoyable to the public.

This year's raffle sponsored by the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Dept, Inc will have a total of seven prizes that are awarded:

*First Prize: 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport Willy's Edition;

*Second Prize: Raven 7100B Multi-Purpose Hybrid;

*Third Prize: Honda Rukus Scooter;

*Fourth Prize: Custom Smoker/Grill, trailer mounted;

*Fifth Prize: Honda EU3000i Generator;

*Sixth Prize: Phantom 3 Drone; and

*Seventh Prize: $500 Gym Source Gift Certificate.

Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to Bridgewater VFD. The drawing will be at Bridgewater Fire House on Monday, August 22, at 6 pm; you do not need to be present to win.

Purchase tickets early at the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire department, Bridgewater Convenience Store (Mobil), Bridgewater Village Store, Bridgewater Town Hall, Senior Center, or The Burnham Library; or at the fair.

The fair weekend will open with its traditional Bridgewater Fireman's Parade. Volunteer fire companies from across the state, and even some from New York, participate in the event, which begins on Clapboard Road and then follows Main Street, ending within the fairgrounds. Marching bands and color guards are also part of the colorful spectacle. Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 pm, and the parade will step off at 6:45 Friday, August 19.

Join the fun for the entire family and all ages with events all weekend long. Hours are Friday, 4-11 pm; Saturday, 8 am-11 pm; and Sunday, 8 am-6 pm. General admission is $8, seniors (60+) $6, children 12 and under free, 3-day pass, $16.
