DUI Arrest
Police report they found motorist Justin Savaglio, 22, of Brookfield asleep in the driverâs seat of his vehicle in the commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road, near Interstate 84, at about 3 am July 11.
Police said that they detected the odor of alcohol on Savaglioâs breath when he spoke, after which they charged him with driving under the influence.
After arrest processing, police released Savaglio on $100 bail for a July 25 court appearance.
Wills Road
At about 9:45 pm July 4, motorist Ryan Boucher, 17, of Bethel, who was driving a 1993 Saturn SL-2 sedan near the intersection of Orchard Hill Road and Wills Road, lost control of the vehicle during a heavy rainstorm and struck some curbing, police said. Police said they learned of the accident the following morning.
Boucher was not injured. Police issued him an infraction for making a restricted left turn.
Pedestrian Hit
About 11:30 pm July 3, motorist Stephen Furphy, 18, of 3 Black Walnut Drive, who was driving a 1989 Ford F-250 pickup truck, was attempting to back out of a driveway at 11 Crossbrook Road, as pedestrian Jay Pankowski, 18, of 18 Oak Ridge Road was attempting to guide the truck out of the driveway, police said.
The truck then struck Pankowski, who was standing near the truckâs right rear side, police said. Ambulance volunteers transported Pankowski to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police took no enforcement against Furphy, who was uninjured.
U-Turn Crash
Motorist Nicholas Mendillo, 24, of Stoughton, Mass., who was driving a 2006 Toyota sedan eastward on Church Hill Road about 7 pm July 4, attempted to make a U-turn, but collided with an eastbound 1998 Subaru station wagon driven by Tracy Watson, 33, of Southbury, police said.
There were no injuries. Mendillo received an infraction for making an improper turn.
South Main MVA
About 8:23 am July 9, motorist Sandra Russell, 45, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry northward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by northbound motorist Jessica Wojiski, 19, of 23 Bear Hills Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Wojiski a written warning for following too closely.
