Newtown Couple Has A Lucky Seven Baby

By Nancy K. Crevier

Tammi and Del Ligouri did not have to look too far to find their own bit of magic on the reputedly magical day of 7-7-07. A seven-pound baby girl, Alicia Rose Ligouri, was born to the Newtown couple on 7-7-07 at Danbury Hospital, one of five babies who entered the world at that hospital on the auspicious date.

Numerology, a practice of prohpecy based on numbers and their relationship to physical objects or living things, has made headlines as the numerologically magic number of seven inspired people all over the world to marry, manipulate birth dates, and otherwise celebrate the numeral 7, hoping to capture some of the good luck connected to that number on the date of 7-7-07. Popular among early mathematicians, according to Wikepedia, numerology is no longer considered by scientists to be truly  mathematic.

Numerology, however, continues to have its avid followers, even today.

Jean Daniel Femier, a numerologist quoted in a July 1 Paris AFP article, noted that seven is the union of the number 4, the symbol of matter, and the number 3, which is the symbol of spirit. Several sevens indicate extra good fortune.

The number seven occurs prominently in literature, history, and religion. In the Christian religion, for example, God created the world in seven days; there are seven sacraments; seven virtues; and seven deadly sins. There are seven Wonders of the Ancient World and an online poll released on 7-7-07 announced the new seven Wonders of the Modern World.

Of course, despite the fact that mathemeticians snub numerology, seven is respected as a prime number.

“Lucky Seven” baby Alicia is the first child for Mr and Mrs Ligouri.

Maternal grandparents are Janice and Stephen Trull of Florida, formerly of Newtown.

Beverly and Thomas Ligouri of Southbury, also former Newtown residents, are the paternal grandparents.
