Road Race Needs Sponsors
Road Race Needs Sponsors
To the Editor:
Organizers of the second annual Newtown Road Race are searching for sponsors and volunteers for this yearâs race, scheduled for September 1, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Last yearâs race attracted nearly 500 runners and 150 kids. This year our goal is more ambitious: 1,000 runners and 300 kids.
All proceeds benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services, the newly merged agency of Newtown Youth Services and the Family Counseling Center. There are many ways for you to help.
Are you a business owner that has been searching for the right way to support the community?
Are you a new business thatâs looking for a unique way to reach townspeople?
Are you new to town, want to reconnect with your neighbors or just want to volunteer for an exciting event?
If so, sponsoring or volunteering for the Newtown Road Race is a great way to have fun, meet new people, and support a great cause. Volunteers are needed to stuff race goodie bags on August 25, and even more volunteers are needed to help with the following areas on race day: registration, food tables, water tables, course marshals, chaperone the kids race, and set up and break down equipment. Also, sponsors are needed to help underwrite the cost of producing the race.
To volunteer, sponsor, register for the race or just learn more about it, go to www.newtownroadrace.com or email Steve Meeker at newtownroadrace@yahoo.com
