Wednesday Carillon Concert Series Has Returned
DANBURY â The Danbury Cultural Commission and St Jamesâ Episcopal Church cordially invite the public to enjoy free performances on the Ella S. Bulkley Carillon, at the church, 25 West Street, being played by internationally renowned Carillonneurs this summer. Concerts are Wednesday afternoons from 12:30 to 1 pm.
This yearâs performances, which began on June 27, will continue as follows:
*July 18: Margaret Angelini, carillonneur/advisor to 25-member student Guild of Carillonneurs, Yale University;
*July 25: Amy Heebner, carillonneur, Albany City Hall, N.Y., and president of Friends of the Albany City Carillon;
*August 1: David Maker, carillonneur, of UConnâs Cornelius Dunham Carillon, concertizes in New England area and Europe, has arranged and composed for bands, including Danbury Brass Band;
*August 8: Marietta Douglas, carillonneur, The Maquire Memorial Carillon Tower, First Presbyterian Church, Stamford; and
*August 15: George Matthew, Jr, carillonneur, Middlebury College and Norwich University, Vt.
These concerts are partially funded by the Danbury Cultural Commission and are free to the public. Chairs are placed in the Church Garden for everyoneâs enjoyment. It is suggested that one bring a lunch and enjoy these open-air concerts in the middle of the day (12:30 to 1). A cool beverage will be available. The Danbury library, across the street, is also a good listening spot.
