Josephine P. Tomaino

Josephine P. (Paige) Tomaino, 76, of Toddy Hill Road, Newtown, formerly of Danbury, wife of the late Angelo Tomaino, died at Ashlar of Newtown on July 11.

Mrs Tomaino was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on July 23, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Wayland and Henrietta (Bassey) Paige.

Jo was a 1946 graduate of Bethel High School and had worked as a sales clerk for the former Barkers Store, McCrory’s, American Radionics, and Fashion Bug, and as a cafeteria worker at Western Connecticut State University. She had been a member of St Peter Church, Daughters of Isabelle, AARP, and the Grange in Beaver Brook. She has additionally been actively involved with Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Caraluzzi of Pennsylvania and Janice Smith of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, Gary Tomaino of Loxahatchee, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Graham of Watertown; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter Christine Coyle, brother William Paige, and sister Frances McBride.

Services were held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury, on July 15. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery.
