Join HVA For July 22 River Hike

In Oxford And Southbury

On Saturday morning, July 22, Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) Land Protection Manager Elaine LaBella will lead a guided hike for area residents through Kettletown State Park.

Ms La Bella, who is also a hike leader for Appalachian Mountain Club, will share her knowledge of the area and its natural resources including rich hemlock-hardwood forests, flowering dogwood, and mountain laurel. The hike will begin at the Oxford Loop, which is also the first section of the Housatonic River Belt Greenway to have been designated. The 3.8-mile hike, part of the Pomperaug Trail, will go through Kettletown State Park and offers scenic views of the Housatonic River — as well as a moderate workout.

Meet at the turnaround on the north end of Fiddlehead Road in Oxford. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and a snack. Rain or shine.

For more information, directions and to register call HVA at 860-672-6678.
