Nancy Warner Naramore Rice

Nancy Warner Naramore Rice, 85, died July 12 in Duluth, Minn. She was born in Fairfield, the daughter of Clarence Beers Naramore and Eva Hutchinson Blackman.

She grew up in Newtown and spent time at the Blackman Farm and at her parents’ inn, Sunset Tavern. Nancy was a graduate of Newtown High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. In 1943 she was married to Richard S. Rice of Danbury. For many years, she worked as a registered nurse in the Danbury public schools. She was an accomplished pianist and used her talent to entertain family and friends.

She was a former resident of Green Valley, Ariz., and Danbury.

She is survived by her children, Susan Hartley and husband, Alan, of Duluth; Richard of San Jose, Calif.; and William and his wife, Barbara, of Kingsford, Mich.; grandchildren Andrew Hartley of Minneapolis, Minn., Katharine Hartley of Duluth; Laura Rice of Washington, D.C., and Kristin Rice of Kingsford, Mich.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard in 1999; her sister Mary N. Connolly of Bradenton, Fla.; and her brother Clarence B. Naramore, Jr, of Fairfield.

Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
