Looking For Representation For All

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to express my concern about our representative, Mitch Bolinsky, and his lack of public support for the “Black Lives Matter” movement which has taken hold in our country. Mr Bolinsky has not, to my knowledge, shown any support for the changes which are so long overdue in the United States, and which a vast majority of our citizenry overwhelmingly support.

I find it hard to believe that he is oblivious to the racism and other forms of intolerance that occur in our state on a daily basis. As our community representative, he has a duty to fight for our most vulnerable citizens. What has he done in this regard? I know of no bills that he has proposed and no statements that he has made. Only once did he state that “all lives matter,” completely missing the point. The rest of America, in fact, even corporate America, has risen to a new consciousness. Mitch has been left behind. I don’t believe this is the kind of representative that we want and deserve.

We need to elect someone who will represent all of us equally and proactively work for change. I, for one, don’t believe Mitch is up to the task. Let’s elect someone who is.

Sincerely,

Lynn Hungaski

Mr. Bolinsky needs to represent what the majority of the voters in his district want.

Based on Merriam Webster’s definition of racism,

“A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.”

Which current Connecticut state policies/laws do you believe were founded on racism, and designed to execute the principles of racism, and thus need to be changed or abolished?
