ORLEANS, MASS. â The Nauset Middle School on Route 28 will once again be the site of The Cape Cod Antiques Dealers Associationâs 37th annual antiques show and sale on August 3â5. This is traditionally one of Cape Codâs most exciting events of the summer season.
A fine selection of authentic Eighteenth, Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century antiques displayed in room settings; American country; formal and garden furniture; folk art; glass; fine and decorative art; nautical items; will be offered by 50 member / exhibitors from nine states.
This year the association is excited about another exhibition room, adjacent to the large gymnasium, which will house additional dealers as well as a special attraction, âHe Painted Cape Cod,â a display of 30 paintings by Cape Cod native Charles D. Cahoon, who came from a talented Harwich family. These wonderful artworks are from private collections, and the display is curated by Roy Mennell, who will give a talk on the life and times of C.D. Cahoon on Sunday afternoon. The book, He Painted Cape Cod, by Barbara MâCready Sykes, will be available.
Admission is $6. Hours are Friday, 5 to 8:30 pm; Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Bob Burns Scholarship Fund, offering educational assistance to Cape Cod college students. Burns was a long time CCADA member, wearing many hats as he worked for the organization â officer, director and finally, show manager.
