Xtreme Chaos Captures State Championship
The Xtreme Chaos travel softball team, made up of 12-year-olds from several Connecticut towns including Newtown, traveled to Lowell, Mass., last weekend and won the National Softball Association Massachusetts State Championship.
Facing some of the top travel softball teams from Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the Xtreme Chaos posted a 4-0 record en route to the title.
Kayla OâGrady, Abi Kuligowski, Karlie Kuligowski and Mikayla Kuligowski are all Newtown players on the Chaos.
The Chaos defeated the Massachusetts Raiders 8-2, beat the Firecracker Fury 3-1, topped the Central Massachusetts Lightning 3-2 and, in the championship game, rolled past the Firecracker Fury, which had worked its way up through the loserâs bracket, 8-3.
Lindsey Spitz, of Shelton, caught all four games for Chaos and was named the teamâs MVP for the tournament The team is coached by Norm Pariseau of Stratford.
