Many Familiar Faces In âAladdinâ And âAidaâ
REDDING â Sabrinaâs Encore Productions will present two musicals this weekend at Joel Barlow High School, and Newtown residents make up a large percentage of both casts.
Aladdin is scheduled to be performed on Friday, July 20, at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, July 22, at 2 pm, at the high school, 100 Black Rock Turnpike. The show features a cast of performers from across the region.
Jasmine and Aladdin will be played by Newtown residents Kristen Stoller and Andrew Nichols.
In addition to Kristen and Andrew, Aladdin will also feature the following Newtown residents in principal roles: Jake Eventoff (Genie), Matt Hoeffel (Jafar), Spencer Earhardt (Sultan), Bianca Crudo (Iago), Matt MAdden (Carpet), and Nicolas Crudo (Abu).
Tim Rice and Elton Johnâs Aida will also be performed by members of the local theater company this weekend, also will also star numerous students from the Newtown-Danbury and the Bridgeport-Stratford areas. Aida performances will be on Saturday July 21, at 8 pm, and Sunday, July 22, at 2 and 7:30 pm.
Nina Demeter, from Bridgeport and a recent graduate of Laurelton Hall in Milford, plays the role of Aida and Brett Boles plays the part of Ramades (see separate story about Brett, this page).
The cast will also include Tyler von Oy, who played Jean Valjean in the Newtown High School production of Les Miserables, and spent last summer acting in Straw Hats Productions, in the role of Zoser; Bianca Crudo, who has been in numerous productions and commercials and played Nicole in the movie Julia Walking Home, as Radames; and Andrew Nichols as Pharaoh.
Additional cast members from Newtown include Max Barret, Leah Barrett, Taylor Boles, Jessica Braun, Riley Cameron, Amanda Eventoff, Nikia McFadden, Kristen Stoller, and stage manager Meghan Gibbons.
Ticket prices for both shows are from $10 to $15 for senior citizens and students to $12 to $18 for adults.
