How long have you lived in Newtown? I have lived here for 15 years.
What do you like to do in your free time? I snow ski and I walk, and I love getting together with my friends. Iâm on the Labor Day Parade Committee, and Iâm vice president of the Chamber of Commerce. I love to read and spend time playing with my granddaughter.
Do you have a favorite author? My favorite author is Patricia Cornwell. I like all of those forensic murder mysteries. I love all of her books. From Potterâs Field was a really good one.
Do you have a favorite vacation destination? Absolutely, it is St Thomas. Anyplace in the Caribbean is wonderful, really. The water is so blue and clear and beautiful. The people are very friendly there. I have many good memories of St Thomas. I wish I could go every year. And the last two winters, Gary and I have gone skiing in Colorado.
Do you have a favorite Newtown memory? For me, itâs the fireworks for the Tercentennial celebration. We were sitting up at Fairfield Hills and it was amazing. I had goose bumps the whole time.
Do you have a hero? My brother, Robert. He is the kind of a man who can balance everything. He works two jobs, but he has time for his children. Heâs a Eucharistic minister at his church. He helps a lot of people and is just a great guy.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Everything happens for a reason â itâs really true. If you can see it through, there is something good at the end.
What interesting object do you have in your purse? I do have something unusual. Itâs half of a turkey wishbone. My girlfriend and I had Thanksgiving together the first year after we were both divorced, and we split the wishbone. I have the bigger part. I also have a stone that I found on the beach at Cape Cod. Itâs shaped like a heart and reminded me that someday, someone would have my heart. I carry it for good luck.
