Fireside just could not get the bats hot enough to lessen the lead. Karen Katrinak, Bethany Trzaskos and Jeanne Sampson were all 2-for-3.
Lynn Baylis of Flagpole Realty earned the win in a 17-2 victory against Grooming Finalists. Flagpoleâs offense was unwavering as Ruth Rowe went 3-for-4, driving in five runs, while Margie Jones doubled, homered and drove in four more. Carolyn Signorelli went 4-for-4 with two RBIs as Tricia Marple went 3-for-4 and Patrice Fahey, Lisa Dolyak, and Misty MacKenzie each went 3-for-5, collectively securing four more RBI.
During Monday night play, Flagpole Realty came up with their second win against Newtown Exxon, 8-3. In the first inning, Signorelli and Dolyak got on base with singles while Jones (3-for-4) singled in a run and Diane Lawrence (4-for-4) singled in two. The next at bat, Cindy Steirle scored after an error and a single from Dolyak. Ruth Rowe singled in the third, advanced on a single from Lawrence and then scored on a fielderâs choice.
Two runs crossed the plate in the 4th for Flagpole. Dolyak reached first on a single, Rowe doubled for an RBI and crossed the plate with a single by Jones. The final run was the effort of a double by Margie Jones and a single by Diane Lawrence. In the field, Baylis, Misty MacKenzie, Jones and Rowe had impressive gloves.
Fireside slipped past Beeline Woodworking, 4-2, as Laura Howard went 3-for-3 and Katie Barry, Nina Ricciardi and Rabiya Ansari all went 2-for-3. Katrinak had a strong pitching effort. Mary Ann Fisher pitched a great game for Beeline while Nancy Bowen was 2-for-2 and Cindy Palkinas, Melissa Jones and Shelby Rotunda banged out a hit apiece.
Flagpole Realty collected its third win with a 24-8 pounding of CMC. Signorelli went 5-for-7 with four runs scored, Dolyak was 4-for-6 with three runs scored, Lawrence was 5-for-6 with four runs scored, Rowe was 5-for-6 with four runs, Baylis was 5-for-6 and Jones was a perfect 6-for-6 with two home runs, four runs scored, and nine RBI.
On defense, Lawrence was spectacular in leftfield, robbing CMC of extra bases with a stretching catch on the run and a perfect throw to Marple at home, who tagged out a runner. Stierle caught two key flies in centerfield, Baylis had numerous outstanding plays at pitcher and Signorelli played a poised third base.
For CMC, Pam Baker and Jeanne Carney hit well, placing the ball and reaching a base each time at bat. Jodee Maciolek pitched a good game and Peg Bowers played a well in leftfield.
