Former Middle Gate School Custodian
Thomas J. Ligouri, 74, of Southbury, a retired custodian for Middle Gate School in Newtown and the former owner and operator of Ligouriâs Texaco, Stepney, died July 12 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport on February 8, 1933, he was a son of the late James and Catherine Ligouri.
A US Army veteran, he was a former resident of Newtown for 41 years. Mr Ligouri enjoyed working in his yard, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his devoted wife and best friend of 50 years, Beverly Bosselait Ligouri; three children, Cheryl Moore and her husband, Karl, of Newtown, Charlene Yacovelli and her husband, Vincent, of Oxford, and Del Ligouri and his wife, Tammi, of Newtown; four brothers, Armando Ligouri of New Port Richey, Fla., Raymond Ligouri of Monroe, George Ligouri of Trumbull, and John Ligouri of Shelton; a sister, Madeline Soules of Monroe; five grandchildren, Nicole and Kayla Moore, Ellen and Joe Yacovelli, and Alicia Rose Ligouri; as well as several nieces and nephews. A son, Thomas J. Ligouri II; four brothers, Joseph, Louis, James, and Anthony Ligouri; and a sister, Rose Schettino, predeceased him.
Funeral services took place on July16Â in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
