On The Diamonds — Women’s Softball Update

Newtown Women’s Softball scores and highlights from this past week are as follows:

Pub 25 defeated Cork N Barrel 16-15: Pub 25 outlasted a last inning rally by Cork and Barrel to get its second victory of the season. With runners on first and second in the bottom of the last inning Emily Nezvesky and Kyla Miles made two outstanding catches to keep the tying runs from scoring. Erin Saunders and Nikki Beatty contributed to the offensive surge and Melissa mason continued her stellar season pitching. The win brought the Lady Pubbers to a 2-3 record on the year.

Black Swan defeated My Place 21-10: Black Swan scored 10 runs in the sixth inning. Joey Barry and Rosie Jackman both went 4-for-4. Lisa Grossman and Kelly Tenny both went 3-for-4, and Carol LaFreniere went 3-for-3.

Cork N Barrel defeated Black Swan 5-4: It was a tie game until the last inning. Black Swan’s Rosie Jackman and Carol LaFreniere each had a RBI and Rachel Nicolosi had two RBI. Carol LaFreniere made a catch on a foul ball near home plate. Kayla Mesko made a hot catch at first base. Jessica Nicolosi did an outstanding job defending third base.

My Place defeated Salon Michele 13-3: Salon Michele’s Lori Rohrbacher played left center and made a couple of great catches. Peg Bowers went 2-for-3 and pitched the second half of the game. Liz Anderson had a double.
