To the Editor:
You have had letters the last two editions about keeping up Confederate statues. I would like to weigh in.
I think we should keep all statues up, but for the sake of history tell the truth. At the base of Jefferson and Washington statues it should read, “They held slaves but fought to create the greatest democracy in world history.” At the base of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee statues it should read “These traitors fought to keep millions of people enslaved forever.”
