Biava Quartet At Roxbury Library

ROXBURY — The Biava Quartet, winner of the prestigious 2003 Naumburg Chamber Music Award, will perform quartets by Dvorak and Mendelssohn at Minor Memorial Library on Saturday, July 22, at 4 pm, as part of the Frasier W. McCann concert series.

Formed in 1998 at Cleveland Institute of Music, the quartet has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and major music festivals and competitions around the world. Critics refer to the group’s “sensitivity and maturity far beyond its cumulative years” and to the musicians’ talent for “allowing the music to speak for itself.”

Quartet members are in residence at Yale University where they serve as teaching assistants to Tokyo String Quartet.

The annual concerts are held in memory of Roxbury’s Frasier W McCann, a major benefactor of the library who was an avid lover of music. The concert and following reception are free and open to the public.
