Ryan Goodridge added 17 points and five three-pointers for the Tarheels and Trevor Todd contributed 12 more points, but none of that helped off-set double-digit performances by Dan Clements (15), May Paytner (14), Dan Quinn (13) and Peter Walsh (10) of the Huskies.
Lapple and Goodridge combined to shoot 13-of-16 from three-point land.
Rising Stars opened its 2005 summer season last Tuesday and the North Carolina-UConn game was the easily most prolific scoring game of the young season. Duke opened the season with a 58-31 win over UConn and North Carolina followed with a 56-48 win over UCLA. In the first game on Thursday, UCLA defeated Syracuse 52-43 before UConn and North Carolina got locked up in their thriller.

Duke 58, UConn 31 â Xhulio Halili popped in 19 points and Steve Musco added 10 more to lift Duke to the win. Brendan OâConnell and Austin Jones combined for 17 points. For the Huskies, Ben Miles canned nine points, Max Paynter added eight and Dan Clement chipped in with six (including a three-pointer).
North Carolina 56, UCLA 48 â Jason Kostecki poured in 24 points and Christian Steimle added 16 more to lift the Tarheels to the win. Taylor Steimle and Matt Baier chipped in with eight points apiece. For the Bruins, Brendan Blawie canned 19 points (including a pair of three-points) as Hank Helgren popped in seven and Zach Bryan and Alexandra Grant contributed six points apiece.
UCLA 52, Syracuse 43 â Brendan Blawie scored 16 points and Mark Fernandez added 15 more to lead UCLA to its first win. Ed White added nine points and Zach Bryan chipped in with six as Judy Carnall, Dan White and Abby Carnall combined for six more. For Syracuse, Grant Braun popped in 15 points while Dan Greenwood (9), Xhulio Halili (7) and Matt Baier (6) combined for 22 more.
This week, it was Syracuse versus Duke and UConn versus North Carolina on Tuesday; UConn versus UCLA and Duke versus North Carolina on Thursday. Next week, it will be North Carolina versus Syracuse and Duke versus UCLA on Tuesday; Duke versus UConn and UCLA versus Syracuse on Thursday.
In August, the league will be moving to a Mondays/Wednesdays schedule. Fridays are left open each week in the event rain postpones a night.
The league All-Star game is slated for August 29 with the semi-finals to be played on August 31 and the championship to be played on September 1.
