Garner Inmate Bites Correction Officer
State police said they learned on the night of July 17, that while a routine inspection of a inmate cell was underway in Garner Correctional Institution, an inmate bit a correction officer on the arm, injuring the officer.
State police did not identify the inmate who allegedly bit the correction officer. State police said they are investigating and plan to seek a court warrant to make an arrest.
Garner at 50 Nunnawauk Road, which opened in November 1992, specializes in housing inmates with serious mental health problems. The high security prison contains about 630 male prisoners.
