Kristen Michelle Valent and Brian Thomas Young

Thomas and Gail Young of Southbury announce the engagement of their son, Brian Thomas Young, Marietta, Ga., and Kristen Michelle Valent, Marietta, Ga., daughter of James and Virginia Valent of Salamanca, N.Y.

Mr Young is a 1994 graduate of Newtown High School and a 1998 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in graphic design. He is employed as a freelance web designer.

Ms Valent graduated from Salamanca High School in 1994, and received her BFA in illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998. She works as a freelance designer and illustrator.

A September 3 wedding is planned.
