Nominated Weimann For Town Clerk
To The Editor:
I had the honor of nominating a very deserving candidate for Town Clerk last night at the Democratic Caucus. I am including my nomination speech for publication.
Good Evening,
I started in the Registrar’s office in 1996. I became Registrar in 2001. During this time, I have worked with many people in the Town Clerk’s office. I have worked with them in many capacities. Obviously in connection with the elections, but also as a Justice of the Peace, a clerk for meetings, a dog owner and to request official documents at different times.
The Town Clerk’s office is the office of vital statistics. Accuracy is extremely important. As a town office, commitment to serving the public should be a priority. As a Department Head, leading the department and keeping up with training is important. Treating the staff properly to maintain consistency is important to ensure the accuracy of the office.
If there is a question Renee seems to be the go to for correct answers. If there is a new member of the staff Renee is the one training that new member. If Renee does not know the answer to an election item she will ask rather than just guess. Accuracy and the pursuit of accuracy is her strong point. If a mistake is made, she notifies the person that needs to correct the error. If she makes a mistake, she corrects it and ensures that it does not have a domino effect.
Tim Holian would drop off his paperwork to Renee and ask her to get it done. He left that office knowing that his paperwork would be processed properly. He counted on Renee to get it done and she never let him down.
I am honored to nominate the person I know gets things done, cares about commitment to our community and realizes the importance of accuracy, Renee Weimann our next Town Clerk.
