Walk

For Animals

The Danbury Animal Welfare Society’s Annual Walk for Animals is scheduled for Sunday, September 30. The 1.5-mile walk starts at 9 am at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center in Bethel.

In addition to supporting the Danbury Animal Welfare Society, The Walk for Animals is great fun and exercise for you and your dog. The leisurely walk through the village of Bethel is appropriate for walkers of all ages who participate with or without a canine companion. Walking increases strength, cardiovascular health, and an overall sense of well-being. Join the Walk for Animals with friends, family, and neighbors and support this worthwhile event.

Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) challenges walkers/fundraisers to set a personal goal of $150 each. While not everyone will be able to achieve this level, DAWS assures participants that any and all donations will benefit the work of the society and are appreciated. Walkers can set up their fundraising pages using Active.com, an online fundraising tool. This easily accessible tool can be found at www.active.com/donate/2007DAWS.

WAGS Doggie Daycamp & Boarding, LLC and Best Friends Pet Care are sponsors of the Walk for Animals. The event features fun games and contests, a DJ and music, and lots of pet “stuff.” It’s a whole morning packed with fun, socialization and light physical activity for you and your favorite friend. Adoptable dogs will also be introduced during the event.

The Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in the community and beyond. Founded in 1974, DAWS provides shelter and care to animals in need, offers adoption counseling to place animals in loving, forever homes, promotes responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals, and works toward ending animal overpopulation through education, spay/neuter, and trap, neuter and return programs.
