The recent commitments include Jason Bohn, Bart Bryant, Mark Hensby, Zach Johnson, Sean OâHair and Vaughn Taylor.
âWith these six players having all recently won an event on the PGA Tour, they bring a breadth of experience to the field and will add excitement to the 2005 tournament,â said Larry Wilder, tournament chairman.
Other PGA Tour players who have previously committed to play in the 2005 Buick Championship include defending champion Woody Austin, Paul Azinger, Mark Brooks, Mark Calcavecchia, Darren Clarke, Steve Elkington, Fred Funk, Lee Janzen, Larry Mize, Joe Ogilvie, Geoff Ogilvy, Kenny Perry, Tim Petrovic, Chris Riley, Scott Simpson, Jeff Sluman and Lee Westwood.
Jason Bohn will be returning to Hartford after tying for sixth place at the 2004 event, having finished just two shots out of the playoff between Tim Herron and Woody Austin. It was his first career PGA TOUR top-10 finish. Bohn wrapped up his first tour victory at this yearâs B.C. Open in convincing fashion.
The Q-School grad is primed for his best career season with the victory.
Bart Bryant captured the Memorial Tournament championship and currently is 20th on the 2005 money list with two other top-10âs coming at the Bay Hill Invitational and the Sony Open in Hawaii. His first tour victory came in 2004 when he won the Valero Texas Open and finished with just under $1 million in earnings for the year.
Mark Hensby qualified for the 2004 PGA Tour by finishing seventh on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2003. His first PGA win came at the 2004 John Deere Classic when he beat Englishman John Morgan for the win.
Zach Johnson became only the second PGA Tour rookie to surpass $2 million in earnings during his 2004 campaign. He notched his first career victory at the 2004 Bell South Classic. Johnson finished third at last years Buick Championship and at the 84 Lumber Classic.
Sean OâHair, a rookie in 2005, earned his PGA Tour card by finishing tied for fourth at the 2004 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. It didnât take OâHair long to notch his first career PGA victory, which came at this yearâs John Deere Classic.
Vaughn Taylor was one of five rookies to win on the PGA Tour in 2004. His victory at the Reno-Tahoe Open helped him earn over $1 million for the year. He also managed two other top-10s at the FedEx St. Jude Classic and the B.C. Open.
