Mary E. Valieant
Mary âMayâ E. Valieant, 87, of Danbury, formerly of Stuart, Fla., and Norwalk, died July 26 at Pope John Paul the Second Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late John W. Valieant.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret M. Simonovich of Sandy Hook, Kathleen Gehan of Danbury, and Grace Oates of Watertown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs Valieant was born January 17, 1918 in Norwalk, daughter of the late Richard and Margaret M. (Haugh) Gorman.
She grew up in Norwalk and was a graduate of Norwalk High School.
She played the violin on WNOK Radio. She and her late husband John owned and operated Jackâs Chevron Service Station on Route 7 in Norwalk up until the sale of the business. She then worked for Perkin Elmer Corp and went on to T Bar, from which she retired.
Mrs Valieant was known as a loving friend to everyone, she took pride and love in her Irish Ancestry and made many trips to Ireland. She was past president of the Columbietts McGivney Council #46, also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Ancient Order Of Hibernians Danbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Peterâs Church in Danbury, Friday, July 29 at 9 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery, Norwalk. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, Thursday, July 28, from 5 to 8 pm.
