NewArts is inviting the public to enjoy being entertained by some talented local performers this Sunday.

A live, all-ages cabaret is being planned for Sunday, August 1, on the outdoor stage at Newsylum Brewery, 36 Keating Farms Avenue, in the Fairfield Hills campus. Food and nonalcoholic drinks will be available in addition to the brewery’s regular offerings.

The theme of the cabaret is “Legends: from LaBelle to Lupone.” Performers were asked to choose any song they love by anyone they consider a musical legend. Instrumentalists were invited to perform on their own or to back others.

Ryan Loucks, director of operations for NewArts/1214 Foundation and the director of the cabaret, told The Newtown Bee this week that there will be “locals of all ages performing a song by their own personal legends.”

The show, he added, will also feature two or three “kid emcees.” The performance list was still being finalized at the beginning of the week, he noted.

Performances begin at 1 pm, and there is a suggestion donation of $10. All proceeds will benefit NewArts, which provides a mastery experience in the performing arts for children of all levels and aptitudes.

NewArts was developed by a team led by Michael Unger, who continues to serve as artistic director. The team comprises Broadway-level professionals, including Tony Award winners and nominees spanning all aspects of theater production.
