How do you pronounce your last name? “Tri-NICK” (laughs). Just imagine there’s an invisible I between the R and the N.

How did you meet your wife? We met in New Haven, during a production of Puccini’s La Boheme by Hillhouse Opera Company. She was the role of Musetta and I was the role of Marcello, the two leads. Life imitated art.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I was originally here for three years, 2004-07, renting, as a bachelor. I came back in August 2019, with Christina and Johnny, when we bought our house. We love this town. It’s my favorite town in Fairfield County.

Work: My full-time job is procurement coordinator for New Haven Public Schools. For that, I approve purchases for the school district, I work with the New Haven Bureau of Purchasing, and I work to coordinate bids and Requests For Proposals, among other things. My second job is as a bass section leader and baritone soloist for Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield. For that job you have to be able to read music when it’s handed to you, and if there’s a solo in your section you have to sing the solo.

What did you want to be when you grew up? There were a few things. At one time I wanted to be a baseball player. In eighth grade I wanted to be a drummer.

What do you enjoy reading? I like to read things about my favorite bands, like Rush. I’m working on the autobiography of Gedde Lee. Another one I’d like to start soon is the autobiography about Rob Halford, the lead singer of another one of my favorite bands.

Favorite music genre? As of late it’s classical music. I listen to WMNR Fine Arts Radio. Favorite composers would be Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, and from a listening perspective, Bach. I also love listening to Rush. Throughout my life I’ve also been a big fan of Judas Priest, and bands like Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, and Kiss.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? One thing that I’ve been given by my father is “The sun will shine tomorrow.” Meaning if you had a really bad day, not every day is going to be a bad day. Things will get better. And that’s helped.

Favorite color? Growing up it was blue, but now for the most part it’s green because I’m a fan of the New York Jets.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love spending time with my family, playing bass guitar at home, and being with my wife.

Do you have any unusual or surprising talents? Perfect pitch.

Favorite TV shows? SWAT with Shemar Moore and Sullivan’s Crossing, a new one we’ve been watching. That’s a really good show. My favorite sitcom of all time is Frasier. I also enjoy watching the NY Jets with my son, and NY Rangers and, when there’s time, the NY Yankees, although I don’t get a lot of time to watch baseball.

Do you have a favorite podcast? I don’t listen to many, but anything put out by SNY’s Jets reporters, I’ll listen to that during the season.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? It’s peaceful, and it’s a fun town. It’s basically the size of a city but it’s really a big town. I love the old buildings. I love Main Street, the Labor Day Parade, and Halloween on Main Street. And the big flagpole — I like that. It’s a great place to raise a family. The playgrounds are really good, there’s a community center, and Fairfield Hills is really nice to walk. It’s a really community based town.

Where I grew up, it was a combination farm town and a beach town. I wasn’t really into the beach but I loved the farm aspect of it. To be living here now is great. It’s very similar to what I loved as a child.
