The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced July 29 that slope repair and destabilization will be initiated along Route 34/Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook next week. Work will be done between Berkshire’s intersections with Jordan Hill and Great Quarter Roads.

The project is scheduled to begin construction activities on Monday, August 3. It is estimated to be completed on Saturday, October 31.

The project consists of lane closure with a temporary traffic signal for alternating one-way traffic, during which the following work will be completed: the installation of temporary precast concrete barrier; installation of steel sheet piles; stone rip rap; and pavement line striping.

Traffic control signage patterns and uniformed flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone during initial setup and removal.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in the area.

The project was awarded to Dayton Construction on August 19, 2024. It is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District IV in Thomaston.
