Geraldine W. Hughes

Geraldine W. Hughes, age 92, wife of the late Joseph Hughes of Capital Drive, Sandy Hook, died July 28 in Ashlar of Newtown. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., April 25, 1911, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Ford) Walker.

Mrs Hughes was a resident of Sandy Hook for more than 30 years. She was a former employee of the Hartford Insurance Co., and later worked for the CACD Group in the Danbury Senior Center. Her last employment was secretary at the Newtown Senior Center, retiring four years ago after being there ten years.

There are no immediate survivors. Her very close friend was Audrey Heim of Monroe.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services took place July 30 at St Rose Cemetery, Cherry Street, Sandy Hook.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of the arrangements.
