Linux Program At DACS Meeting
DANBURY ââ At the Danbury Area Computer Society (DACS) general meeting on August 5, DACS board member Bill Keane will talk about Linux on the desktop.
Mr Keane will discuss the history of Linux, what is the open source code and how it applies to the desktop. He will explain how to do some system administration without using the word registry and how to install new applications. Included in his presentation will be the major applications including browsers, email, word processors, spread sheets, presentation programs, financial packages, graphical and sound packages work under Linux. In addition he will cover the documentation, games, sound, and networking aspects.
 DACS general meeting will take place at its usual place at Danbury Hospital Auditorium. The August 5 meeting will start at 7 pm with questions and answers followed by brief club announcements. Bill Keaneâs presentation is at 8 pm. For additional information, check DACS web page at www.dacs.org.
