Consider A Career

In Insurance

To the Editor:

I was very pleased to read the article in The Connecticut Post and The Newtown Bee about Connecticut colleges that offer associate degrees in insurance.

Capital Community College and Norwalk Community College have introduced an insurance and risk management major for undergrads. Introducing this major gives students the opportunity to learn more about and develop the skills they need to succeed in this exciting and profitable field. The insurance industry has a lot to offer, but as a result of negative stereotypes and limited knowledge, many don’t realize what great careers are available in insurance.

This industry has been a wonderful experience for me. I would like to encourage anyone considering a career in insurance to make a move and learn about the great opportunities the industry has to offer. Insurance is more than just collecting premiums; it’s about providing advice to protect assets, reduce risk, and helping people in times of crisis. You serve as a key member of the local community, with the added bonus of earning a competitive salary.

Many may think insurance is for “old folks” but Associated Insurance Agencies and I would urge those who do to think again. Our industry is always enhancing the use of technology. Through good and bad economic times consider that people will always need insurance. Investigate a career in insurance and be rewarded knowing every day you have an opportunity to have a positive impact on someone’s life. I would encourage anyone who is considering a career in insurance to try out the local community college program, or call a local independent agency to explore potential job opportunities. I’m positive it could be the best move you have ever made.

Sincerely,
