Adelaide E.  Osterman

Adelaide E. Osterman, 97, of Frelinghuysen Township, N.J., died July 31 at home. Born in Guttenberg, N.J., Mrs Osterman lived in Cliffside Park, Toms River, and Cedar Glen before moving to Frelinghuysen Township in 1991.

She was the mother of Edward Thomas Osterman of Newtown.

Mrs Osterman was a former telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company in Oradell and Cliffside Park. She was a member of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church and a member of Frelinghuysen and Green Township Senior Citizens.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Amanda (Beyer) Hoppe, Mrs Osterman was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Edward Joseph Osterman, in 1992.

In addition to her son, Mrs Osterman is survived by a daughter, Arlene Styring of Frelinghuysen Township. Mrs Osterman was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters with two surviving, her sister, Emily Diehl, of Cresskill, N.J., and a brother, Herbert Hoppe, of Edgewater, N.J. She is also survived by two grandsons, David and Thomas Osterman, and three step-grandchildren, Suzanne, Stephen, and Sally Styring.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, N.J.
