Special Tour

 For Seniors

BRIDGEPORT — A day-long outing package for adult and senior citizens groups has been coordinated by the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport and the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk to show off the best of both attractions.

Dubbed “Under the Big Top Tour,” the fully guided program will begin at the museum to view artifacts and collections related to P.T. Barnum; General Tom Thumb; his wife, Lavinia Warren; “Swedish Nightingale” Jenny Lind; and highlights from Barnum’s “Greatest Show On Earth.”

Tours will continue through historic Mountain Grove Cemetery to view the gravesites of Barnum, Tom Thumb (Bridgeport-born Charles Sherwood Stratton), and Lavinia Warren.

In the afternoon, groups will visit the IMAX theatre at the Maritime Aquarium to view the “Cirque Du Soleil” film and conclude the day with a tour of the Aquarium, which features 20 habitats stocked with more than 1,000 animals indigenous to Long Island Sound.

For information or to schedule a tour, call Museum Education Director Jeffrey Nichols at 203/331-1104, extension 102, or Maritime Group Sales Manager Donna Santos at 203/852-0700, extension 248.
