Vehicle Violations

Police said they stopped motorist Edward Bartuski, 50, of 138 Underhill Road, Sandy Hook, while he was driving on Cherry Street on the night of July 31 for operating a vehicle with studded snow tires out-of-season.  On investigating, police said they learned that Bartuski’s driver’s license has been suspended indefinitely.

Police charged Bartuski with operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and operating a motor vehicle with studded snow tires out-of-season.

Police released Bartuski for an August 14 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

South Main Crash

Police report a two-car accident on South Main Street south of Sand Hill Plaza on the afternoon of August 1.

The accident involved motorists Michael Duhaime, 44, of Ansonia, who was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice, and motorist Paul T. Cerreta, 18, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. Both vehicles were removed from the accident scene before police arrived. There was no enforcement action.

Five Charges

Police said they lodged five charges against motorist Patrick Hackman, 19, of Bethel early on the morning of August 2.

Police said they stopped Hackman on South Main Street about 1:20 am for erratic driving. Police said Hackman failed field sobriety tests.

Police charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, simple possession of marijuana, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police held Hackman on a $1,500 bond for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Geese Cross Road

Police report motorist Ashley K. Mackey, 53, of Monroe was driving a 1991 Honda Accord southbound on South Main Street, near Wills Road, about 6:20 pm July 31, when she stopped behind another southbound vehicle which had stopped to allow geese to walk across South Main Street.

Southbound motorist Barbara H. Romans, 46, of Easton, who was driving a 1990 Honda Civic, then struck the rear end of the Accord, police said.

Mackey reported neck pain, police said. Police issued Romans a written warning for following too closely.
