avv/lsb set 8/3 #708229

NEW YORK CITY — Ursus Books & Prints Ltd presents “Best of Botany and Natural History: Original Contemporary Works on Paper,” on view through October 6.

The exhibition features watercolors by contemporary artists from several countries, including Milly Acharya, Donald Campbell, Gertrude Hamilton, Jennifer Howard, Katie Lee and Adele Rossetti Morosini. Their work generates a new perspective on traditional European studies of nature and couples the history of botanical and natural history illustration with still life painting.

The print department at Ursus specializes in Sixteenth to Nineteenth Century English and European decorative works on paper, and offers a selection of original engravings, lithographs and watercolors in all fields. From renowned botanical artists to anonymous genre painters, its collections are characterized by eclecticism and attention to condition and artistry.

In addition to historical material, it exhibits original watercolors by contemporary artists working in the tradition of European botanical illustration.

Ursus is at 981 Madison Avenue in the Carlyle Hotel. For information, 212-772-8787 or www.ursusbooks.com.
