Irish Music By Kane Sisters, August 3 At Meeting House

The driving fiddle force behind Sharon Shannon’s band The Woodchoppers, Liz and Yvonne Kane’s unique, tight-knit unison fiddling creates a powerful, evocative sound which captures the spirit of their native Connemara in west Galway. Between them they have won virtually every fiddling honor throughout Ireland, including the prestigious All-Ireland Senior title.

Their two CDs, The Well Tempered Bow and Under the Diamond, have received rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Kane sisters will share their talent in a special local concert on Friday, August 3, when they bring their current United States tour to Newtown Meeting House. The concert is the latest offering in town by The Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society, and is suitable for all ages.

Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children. Showtime is 8 pm.

For reservations (which are strongly recommended, as most STIMS shows at the meeting house have been standing room only) or more info call 203-259-1036 or send e-mail to TMQuinn@optonline.net.

Visit ShamrockIrishMusic.org for directions to the concert or more information on the Society.
