Norman R. Begin

NMS Language Teacher

Norman R. Begin, 63, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Deena Tencza Begin, died July 29 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Gardner, Mass., he was the son of Patrick A. and Fernande Poulin Begin.

A language teacher, he first taught French, and retired this year from the Newtown Middle School, where he taught Spanish for 42 years. Mr Begin was a member of the Connecticut Organization of Language Teachers.

The family moved to Bridgeport in 1957 and Mr Begin resided in Trumbull the last 22 years. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Fairfield, and received his bachelor of arts and his master’s degree in education from the University of Bridgeport.

An all-around creative handyman, his hobbies included gardening, carpentry, and love for the outdoors.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves two devoted sons, Mathieu P. Begin and Michael H. Begin, both of Trumbull; two brothers, Gerald H. Begin and wife, Kathleen, of Middlefield and Robert A. Begin and wife, Bernice, of Bridgeport; two sisters, Lorraine LeRoy of Oakville and Rejeanne Caggiano and husband, James, of Trumbull; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, at 9:15 am, from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and at 10 am at St Theresa Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St Monica’s Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, August 2, from 4 to 8 pm.
